Katy Perry - Rise (NBC Olympics video)

Hope you will love this awesome lyric.

Katy Perry - Rise

I won’t just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can’t write my story
I’m beyond the archetype

I won’t just conform
No matter how you shake my core
‘Cause my roots they run deep, oh

Oh, ye of so little faith
Don’t doubt it, don’t doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I’ll fight it, I’ll fight it
I will transform

When, when the fire’s at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They’re whispering, "You’re out of time”
But still I rise

This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in
Think again
Don’t be surprised
I will still rise

I must stay conscious
Through the madness and chaos
So I call on my angels
They say

Oh, ye of so little faith
Don’t doubt it, don’t doubt it
Victory is in your veins
You know it, you know it
And you will not negotiate
Just fight it, just fight it
And be transformed

‘Cause when, when the fire’s at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They’re whispering, "You’re out of time”
But still I rise

This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in
Think again
Don’t be surprised
I will still rise

Don’t doubt it, don’t doubt it
Oh, oh, oh, oh
You know it, you know it
Still rise
Just fight it, just fight it
Don’t be surprised
I will still rise

Star Wars 2016-06-23 Entertainment, Darth Vader Lives! (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story)

http://www.ew.com/article/2016/06/23/darth-vader-rogue-one-star-wars?xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter

Darth Vader Lives!

New details on the Sith lord's return in 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story'

(TM Lucasfilm Ltd.)

Cue the heavy breathing.

Darth Vader is alive, angry, and merciless.

As part of EW’s Rogue One cover reveal, we confirmed the Sith lord will be back at the height of his powers in the Dec. 16 film, which takes place just prior to the events of 1977’s original Star Wars.

Ever since Lucasfilm announced that the plot of its first stand-alone movie would focus on the Rebel warriors who staged a heist of plans for the first Death Star, fans knew – or at least seriously expected – that the most iconic villain in film history would return to the screen. If he didn’t…? The collective rage of the Star Wars fandom would probably Force-choke whoever nixed him.

Rogue One is a new kind of movie for Lucasfilm, a story that explores territory beyond the core “saga” films of the first three classic movies, George Lucas’ prequels, and the new trilogy that started with J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens and will continue in 2017 with director Rian Johnson’s Episode VIII. The next stand-alone film after Rogue One will be a young Han Solo story, coming out in 2018, which delves into the history of the captain of the Millennium Falcon long before he encounters Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi in that cantina on Tatooine.

Lucasfilm has said the main difference between the features is that the “saga” films are focused mainly on the Skywalker family – but now we know that doesn’t mean Rogue One will be completely devoid of Skywalkers.

In her interview with EW, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was asked about which characters from the original trilogy may turn up alongside the new heroes and villains.

After a momentary hesitation, Kennedy said: “I think we can talk about Vader…”

Those were the seven words fans wanted to hear.

SITH SENSE

At 85, James Earl Jones will also reprise his role as Vader’s foreboding voice, while a variety of large-framed performers will embody the character behind the mask. (David Prowse, now 80, was often inside the suit in the original trilogy.)

Jones has lately performed the character on episodes of Disney XD’s animated Star Wars: Rebels – but many actors have imitated the voice over the years for games, cartoons, and other products. Onscreen, however, there can be no substitute.

That leaves the question: How much Vader are we going to get? The answer – just a little bit. (That’s why there isn’t a new image of him, unfortunately.) Kennedy says Rogue One has to make careful use of Vader. “He will be in the movie sparingly,” she says. “But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large.”

EW also learned a little about Vader’s reputation in the galaxy at this point in the chronology, roughly 19 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, when Anakin Skywalker lost most of his limbs and was horrifically burned in a battle with Obi-Wan, necessitating the life-sustaining armor he wears forever after. As Rogue One unfolds, Vader is still a background player in galactic politics.

Vader is the muscle. The fixer. And also… the breaker, when he needs to be.

The Empire’s grip on the galaxy is beginning to be pried open, and the Death Star is how Emperor Palpatine intends to maintain his dominion over the star systems rising up against him.

The Rebels are barely familiar with Vader. Even within the Empire, he is more legend than everyday presence. “Within the Rebellion, it’s not commonly spoken about,” says director Gareth Edwards. “Within the Empire, there is the culture of knowing of the existence of Darth Vader. There’s definitely an underlying feeling that there is a power – a dark power – available to the Empire and that if you overstep your mark, you will suffer the consequences.”

With the man in black as a background figure, that brings us to the central villain of Rogue One: a man in white.

VILLAIN VS. VILLAIN

The main antagonist of the story is Ben Mendelsohn’s Director Orson Krennic, an ambitious Imperial officer with Machiavellian tendencies who is eager to secure a place at the Emperor’s side. “There is a lot of palace intrigue going on in the Empire, with people conspiring to move up the ranks and sabotaging each other,” producer John Knoll says. “There’s not a lot of loyalty there.”

In other words, Krennic and Vader aren’t friends. They’re barely allies, and Krennic is understandably threatened by the Sith Lord. “Vader doesn’t really play by the rules,” says Kiri Hart, Lucasfilm’s chief of story development. “He’s present in the military structure, but he’s not beholden to it. He’s not accountable to anybody, really, except Palpatine.”

Hart believes Vader’s volatility in the original film is part of what made him memorable and unsettling, so that quality will also be coming back in Rogue One.

“When Tarkin says to Vader to ‘release him’ when he’s choking that guy, Vader does it, but not because he has to. He’s just willing to give Tarkin one in that moment,” she says, with a nervous laugh. “That’s part of what makes the reveal of the Emperor, even in a hologram in Episode V, so cool because you’re like, ‘Oh, wow. Here is the guy that Vader literally bends his knee to. What’s that all about?’”

That’s what Krennic is trying to figure out, too: How can he acquire that most-favored status? What is it between the Emperor and Vader that binds them?

Krennic is left with a lot of motivation to quash this Rebel strike force and keep the Empire’s Death Star plans from going awry.

He can feel Vader’s mechanical breath on his neck.

VADER’S FIRST DAY

With Lucas retired and stepping back from the creative process, this new slate of Star Wars films marks the first time that a generation of filmmakers who grew up as fans are taking over the official stories. Some, like Edwards, first started making up their own Star Wars tales as children with the help of their Kenner action figures.

Bringing back a key original character onscreen is sort of like one of those 3 3/4-inch figures becoming life-size.

When asked about his first day with Darth Vader, Edwards actually went way back. He recalled being a kid and going to the opening of a toy shop that featured a special celebrity guest – the dark lord himself. “When I got home, my mum encouraged me to tell a neighbor what I’d done that day, and I said, ‘Oh, yeah, I met Darth Vader.’ And the neighbor said, ‘The real one?’ I was like, ‘No, it was just an actor – the real one’s out in space.’”

While prepping to start Rogue One, Edwards’ first experience with the fallen Jedi came in the Fall of 2014 during a test shoot on the Starkiller Base set of The Force Awakens. They were experimenting with how best to light all that gleaming black armor in amongst the shimmering backdrop of Imperial-style architecture.

“He’s got more in common with lighting a car than a person, so we wanted to get it exactly right,” Edwards said. “We had the breathing sound just to inspire everyone. I just got massive goosebumps. I was so nervous to turn the corner and see him. You have to pinch yourself. Everyone became children again, so easy. You just go straight back to being a 4-year-old, like, in a heartbeat.”

He says that’s when a filmmaker becomes a fan again. “There’s all these rules about security on set, but I couldn’t help it,” Edwards says. “I got my phone out and started taking pictures of him, and pictures of me with him, because I felt like no one would ever believe that I’d met Darth Vader.”

The real one this time.

In December, we’ll be encountering him again, too.

Manic Street Preachers - Together Stronger (C'mon Wales) [Official Video]

Hope you will love this awesome lyric.

Manic Street Preachers - Together Stronger (C'mon Wales)

Not since 1958
When Brazil would make our hearts break
But now that France has arrived
It feels so good to be alive
Lets not forget Gary Speed
He wore his heart upon his sleeve
And if he is looking down
Then our love is all around

So Come on Ramsey
Lets set the world alight
When Gareth Bale plays
We can beat any side
So come on Wales
So come on Wales
With Ashley Williams
We can win any fight

Joe Jordan won with his hand
Russia was Giggsy's last chance
Paul Bodin's penalty miss
That 85 night was so tragic
But now the past is all gone
The future is ours to be won
You're just too good to be true
We can't take our eyes off you

So Come on Ramsey
Lets set the world alight
When Gareth Bale plays
We can beat any side
So come on Wales
So come on Wales
With Ashley Williams
We can win any fight

Chrissy Coleman, Gunter, Chester
Hennessey, Allen, King and Collins
Davis, Ledley, Taylor, Richards
Hal Robson-Kanu

So Come on Ramsey
Lets set the world alight
When Gareth Bale plays
We can beat any side
So come on Wales
So come on Wales
Together Stronger
We'll win if we unite

Joker - Easy Come And Go

This is the amazing video by Joker. A portuguese band that had 2 albuns in 1992 and 1994.
This song was like magic. I heard this a lot for sure in the 90s. Sad they are not here anymore with more rock music.
I saw them live one time in 1992/November/6 when they made the first part of Thunder and Extreme in the old Pavilhão Dramático de Cascais.

Going to paste here the story of the band Joker taken from Discogs Site:

Band from Cascais, Portugal, formed in the summer of 1990 by vocalist Tiago Gardner and keyboardist José Tavares. Joining them was drummer Eduardo Silva, bassist Hugo Granger, and guitarist Paulo Pereira. In September of the same year, the band played their first gig in Cascais. In December, after several concerts, the band entered the Tcha Tcha Tcha studios to record their first demo tape, titled "Demo '90", which included three tracks: "Little Suzie", "Bitten By The Snake" and "Burning With Desire". At the beginning of 1991, drummer Eduardo left the band and Bruno Ganger, Hugo's brother, replaced him. Between April and July the group played live eight times, between Lisbon and Cascais. The first contacts with management and the Polygram label began in April 1991. Luís Páscoa replaced Bruno Ganger on drums, and the band records another demo tape with 5 songs. In November 1992, their first full-length is released, "Ecstasy". In November 6th 1992, Joker opens for US band Extreme and UK group Thunder, at the Dramático in Cascais. The song "Easy Come And Go" reaches the national Top and the 12" EP "Easy Come And Go" is released. In 1993 the band played live all over the country, some discos like the News in Cascais, Alcântara-Mar in Lisbon, as well venues like Armazén 22, also in Lisbon and Pavilhão do Infante Sagres in Porto. The band leaves their Hard Rock roots to follow a more groove-oriented and mature sound on their 2nd album "Egg Nightmare", released in 1994. After the contract with Polygram the band disappeared.

Members:
Hugo Granger (Bass)
José Vasconcelos (Keyboards)
Luís Páscoa (Drums)
Paulo Ferreira (Guitars)
Tiago Gardner (Vocals)

Joker - Easy Come And Go

Hope you will love this awesome lyric.

Joker - Easy Come And Go

Easy Come Easy Go
Seems to me you want me to see
That you love me but baby
It already shows
No need for tears
No need for crying
All through these years
Of troubles and fears
Never once I though
We'd start all over again
And baby hold me one last time
Cause baby I'm letting you go this time
Easy Come And Go
Little should you know
Life ain't full of dreams
We're falling at the seems
Hoping you would see
It's not meant for me
This can no longer last
Easy Come Easy Go

Feel it come feel it go
Always on the edge
When something is wrong
Can't you see you and I
We were slipping away from the start
Yeah
And baby hold me one last time
No no no
Cause baby I'm letting you go this time
Easy Come And Go
Little should you know
Life ain't full of dreams
We're falling at the seems
Hoping you would see
It's not meant for me
Oh
Easy Come Easy Go

Easy Come And Go
Little should you know
Life ain't full of dreams
We're falling at the seems
Hoping you would see
It's not meant for me
This can no longer last
Easy Come and Go
Easy Come And Go
Little should you know
Little should you know
Life ain't full of dreams
We're falling at the seems
Oh baby you the seems
Oh baby
This can no longer
Easy Come Easy Go

Easy Come And Go
Little should you know
We're keep falling at the seems
Loving you loving you
Would see
It's not meant for me
Oh
Little should you know
Life ain't full of dreams
Easy Come Easy Go

Bruce Springsteen 2016-05-19 Rock In Rio, Lisbon

Thu, May 19, 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal @ Rock In Rio (Parque da Bela Vista)

I went to Rock In Rio to see Bruce Springsteen (for the 3rd time) live. This time was "The River Tour 2016". Another big and sunny day of waiting. But it worth every minute of it.

It was the third time the BOSS was here in Portugal to do a live show. I was on the first show he did here in Lisbon on May 1st, 1993 at Estádio José de Alvalade (23 years before). This 1993 show was really awesome. I remember to see Bruce Springsteen playing for 3 hours. And the second show was 4 years ago also in Rock In Rio on June 3rd 2012.

I arrived at Rock In Rio at 5 am. Still night. Cold night. I sat up a little on the road where we will be in line to enter later, waiting that somebody else came. Other fans of Bruce Sprignsteen began arriving a little after 8 am.

Just before 4 pm me and other fans started to run up the long road, hard race until the main entrance. I managed to go to an empty door of close to 15 or 16 doors available to stop.

A few minutes later we get in. A lot of people ahead of us taking photos and trying to give us "things". Well, so I run to the front and then went behind other fans to the left side but I notice the right side was almost empty. So I turned around, just couldn't run anymore. Walk a little behind the bars and there I ended up on the right side that was where I wanted to go. I saw a friend of mine on front row with a little space on his right side and went there.

Finally I could rest on a sunny and hot day.

Before Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in Rock In Rio, Lisbon we saw a musical "Rock In Rio - The Musical", we also saw the bands Stereophonics and Xutos e Pontapés.

The first act was by Rock In Rio - The Musical. 60 minutes.
A musical Rock In Rio create to celebrate the 30 years of Rock In Rio.

The next band on stage was Stereophonics. They played for 71 minutes.
This was the first time I saw them live. They were nice. To be honest I knew their name but never hear them before and what I heard before I did not enjoy. But to be honest they were cool. I like 2 songs they played, I think they were: "White Lies" and "Mr and Mrs Smith".

I will write here the setlist:

01. C'est La Vie
02. I Wanna Get Lost With You
03. Local Boy in the Photograph
04. Vegas Two Times
05. Sunny
06. Maybe Tomorrow

09. White Lies
10. Just Looking
11. Indian Summer
12. Graffiti on the Train
13. Mr Writer
14. Mr and Mrs Smith
15. Dakota

The third act, band was Xutos e Pontapés. They played for 72 minutes.
They played at night. I already have seen them other times in Rock In Rio. More of the same songs.

I will write here the setlist:

01. Enquanto a Noite Cai
02. Salve-se Quem Puder
03. De Madrugada (Tu & Eu)
04. Contentores
05. Não Sou o Único
06. Mundo ao Contrário
07. Fim de Semana

13. Tu Também (Há 10000 Anos Atrás)
14. Ai Se Ele Cai
15. A Minha Maneira
16. Maria
17. Casinha

Finally was time for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. He started the show at 23h53 and played for 159 minutes.

Bruce and band perform a 27-song set at Rock in Rio Festival, only the third time Springsteen has played in Portugal.

I will write here the setlist:

01. Badlands
02. No Surrender
03. My Love Will Not Let You Down
04. Cover Me

Pink - Just Like Fire (From the Original Motion Picture "Alice Through The Looking Glass")

This is the awesome new video by P!nk. Amazing as always. Pink magic is back.

"Just like magic, I'll be flying free
I'mma disappear when they come for me"

Well, it's MAGIC.

P!nk - Just Like Fire (From the Original Motion Picture "Alice Through The Looking Glass")

Hope you will love this awesome lyric.

Pink - Just Like Fire

I know that I'm running out of time
I want it all, mmm, mmm
And I'm wishing they'd stop tryna turn me off
I want it all, mmm, mmm
And I'm walking on a wire, trying to go higher
Feels like I'm surrounded by clowns and liars
Even when I give it all away
I want it all, mmm, mmm

We came here to run it, run it, run it
We came here to run it, run it, run it

Just like fire, burning out the way
If I can light the world up for just one day
Watch this madness, colorful charade
No one can be just like me any way
Just like magic, I'll be flying free
I'mma disappear when they come for me
I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say?
No one can be just like me any way
Just like fire, uh

And people like to laugh at you cause they are all the same, mmm, mmm
See I would rather we just go our different way than play the game mm, mm
And no matter the weather, we can do it better
You and me together, forever and ever
We don't have to worry bout' a thing, bout' a thing

We came here to run it, run it, run it
We came here to run it, run it, run it

Just like fire, burning out the way
If I can light the world up for just one day
Watch this madness, colorful charade
No one can be just like me any way
Just like magic, I'll be flying free
I'mma disappear when they come for me
I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say?
No one can be just like me any way

Just like fire, fire, fire
Run it, run it, run it
We came here to run it, run it, run it

So look I came here to run it
Just cause nobody's done it
Y'all don't think I can run it
But look, I've been here, I've done it
Impossible? Please
Watch, I do it with ease
You just gotta believe
Come on, come on with me

Oh, what you gonna do?
(What, what?)
Oh, what you gonna do?
(What, what?)
Oh, what you gonna do?
(What, what?)
Oh, what you gonna do?

Just like fire, burning out the way
If I can light the world up for just one day
Watch this madness, colorful charade
No one can be just like me any way
Just like fire, burning out the way
If I can light the world up for just one day
Watch this madness, colorful charade
No one can be just like me any way
Just like magic, I'll be flying free
I'mma disappear when they come for me
I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say?
No one can be just like me any way
Just like fire, fire

Running, running, running
Just like fire
Run it, run it, run it

Principal photography has wrapped on Showtime’s revival of the ’90s cult TV show “Twin Peaks,” and to commemorate, the cable network has released a complete cast list for the upcoming season featuring over 217 names.

As might be expected in a list that contains hundreds of individuals, there’s a lot to anticipate with David Lynch’s return to "Twin Peaks" and a lot of new faces to accompany the show’s returning stars.

While Kyle MacLachlan has been set to return as Special Agent Dale Cooper, he’ll also be joined by Laura and Leland Palmer, played by Sheryl Lee and Ray Wise, respectively, and impressively, given that both characters are dead.

Veterans returning to populate “Twin Peaks” include Russ Tamblyn, Sherilynn Fenn, David Duchovny and Mädchen Amick.

Grace Zabriskie and Harry Dean Stanton are also set to return and the pair will be joined by Amanda Seyfried, making this season the weirdest “Big Love” reunion ever.

Other newcomers include musicians Trent Reznor, Eddie Vedder and Sharon Van Etten, who will hopefully be portraying the world’s most depressing dive bar house band, as well as Ethan Suplee, Matthew Lillard, Brett Gelman and Jim Belushi giving the series a shockingly high “average joe comedic actor” average.

The cast will also include two Lynch veterans, with Laura Dern, who starred in three of the director’s films, “Blue Velvet,” “Wild at Heart” and “Inland Empire”; and Balthazar Getty, who appeared in Lynch’s “Lost Highway.”

"Twin Peaks" is scheduled to air in 2017.

Complete cast list available here.

Prince, DEAD (1958-06-07, 2016-04-21) (aged 57)

The amazing Prince is dead.
I saw Prince live in 1993 in a big stadium (Estádio Alvalade) and in 1998 in Pavilhão Atlântico. I was on front row both shows.
Love his music and a his movies like "Purple Rain" from 1984, "Under the Cherry Moon" 1986, "Sign o' the Times" 1987 and "Graffiti Bridge" 1990.

You can check his story on his wikipedia page and on his imdb page.

Here it goes a little from his history from wikipedia.

Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016), known by the mononym Prince, was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, and actor. Prince was renowned as an innovator, and was widely known for his eclectic work, flamboyant stage presence, and wide vocal range. He was widely regarded as the pioneer of Minneapolis sound. His music integrates a wide variety of styles, including funk, rock, R&B, soul, psychedelia, and pop.

Prince was born in Minneapolis and developed an interest in music as a young child, writing his first song when he was seven years old. After recording songs with his cousin's band 94 East, 19-year-old Prince recorded several unsuccessful demo tapes before releasing his debut album For You in 1978, under the guidance of manager Owen Husney. His 1979 album Prince went platinum due to the success of the singles "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad?" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover". His next three records—Dirty Mind (1980), Controversy (1981), and 1999 (1982)—continued his success, showcasing Prince's trademark of prominently sexual lyrics and incorporation of elements of funk, dance, and rock music. In 1984, he began referring to his backup band as The Revolution and released Purple Rain, which served as the soundtrack to his film debut of the same name. A prolific songwriter, Prince in the 1980s wrote songs for and produced work by many other acts, often under pseudonyms.

After releasing the albums Around the World in a Day (1985) and Parade (1986), The Revolution disbanded and Prince released the double album Sign o' the Times (1987) as a solo artist. He released three more solo albums before debuting The New Power Generation band in 1991. He changed his stage name in 1993 to an unpronounceable symbol Prince logo.svg, also known as the "Love Symbol". He then began releasing new albums at a faster pace to remove himself from contractual obligations to Warner Bros.; he released five records between 1994 and 1996 before signing with Arista Records in 1998. In 2000, he began referring to himself as "Prince" again. He released 15 albums after that; his final album, HITnRUN Phase Two, was first released exclusively on the Tidal streaming service on December 11, 2015. On April 21, 2016, Prince died at his Paisley Park recording studio and home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, following two weeks of reported illness.

Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the first year of his eligibility. Rolling Stone ranked Prince at number 27 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

Early life

Prince Rogers Nelson was born in Minneapolis, the son of Mattie Della (Shaw) and John Lewis Nelson. His parents were both African-American, and his family ancestry is centered in Louisiana, with all four of his grandparents hailing from that state. Prince's father was a pianist and songwriter and his mother was a jazz singer. Prince was named after his father, whose stage name was Prince Rogers, and who performed with a jazz group called the Prince Rogers Trio. In a 1991 interview with A Current Affair, Prince's father said, "I named my son Prince because I wanted him to do everything I wanted to do". Prince's childhood nickname was Skipper.

In an interview, Prince told Tavis Smiley that he was "born epileptic" and "used to have seizures" when he was young. During the interview, he also said: "My mother told me one day I walked in to her and said, 'Mom, I'm not going to be sick anymore,' and she said, 'Why?' and I said, 'Because an angel told me so'."

Prince's sister Tika Evene (usually called Tyka) was born in 1960. Both siblings developed a keen interest in music, and this was encouraged by their father. Prince wrote his first tune, "Funk Machine", on his father's piano when he was seven. When Prince was ten years old, his parents separated. Prince repeatedly switched homes following the separation, sometimes living with his father and sometimes with his mother and stepfather. Finally, he moved into the home of neighbors named Anderson and befriended their son Andre Anderson, who later became known as André Cymone.

Prince and Anderson joined Prince's cousin Charles Smith in a band called Grand Central while they were attending Minneapolis's Central High School. Smith was later replaced by Morris Day on the drums. Prince played piano and guitar for the band, which performed at clubs and parties in the Minneapolis area. Grand Central later changed its name to Champagne and started playing original music influenced by Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, Earth, Wind & Fire, Miles Davis, George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and Todd Rundgren. Rock critics have noted similarities between Prince's later androgynous look, music and vocal style and that of Little Richard.

Prince also played basketball in high school, and continued to play it for recreation as an adult.

Illness and death

On April 7, 2016, Prince postponed two performances from his Piano & A Microphone Tour, at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta; the venue released a statement saying he was "battling the flu". He rescheduled the show for April 14, even though he still was not feeling well. While flying back to Minneapolis early the next morning, his private jet made an emergency landing at Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois, so that he could seek medical treatment. Representatives stated that he suffered from "bad dehydration" and had been fighting influenza for several weeks. TMZ reported that he was treated for a drug overdose and left the hospital contrary to doctors' recommendation. Prince was seen in public the following evening, when he shopped at the Electric Fetus in Minneapolis on Record Store Day, and made a brief appearance at a dance party at his Paisley Park recording studio complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota, stating that he was feeling fine.

He attended a performance by singer Lizz Wright at the Dakota Jazz Club on April 19, 2016.

On April 21, 2016, Prince was found, unresponsive, in an elevator at Paisley Park. A 9-1-1 call was placed at 9:43 a.m; he did not recover with CPR by emergency responders and was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m. He was 57 years old.

U.S. President Barack Obama expressed condolences, as did many musicians and cultural figures. To honor Prince's memory, cities across the U.S. held tributes and vigils, and lit buildings, bridges, and other venues in purple light. In the first five hours after the media began reporting his death, "Prince" was the top trending term on Twitter, and Facebook reported there had been 61 million Prince-related interactions.

Artistry

Musical style

Jon Pareles of The New York Times described Prince as "a master architect of funk, rock, R&B and pop," while highlighting his ability to defy genre categories. Critic Simon Reynolds called him a "pop polymath, flitting between funkadelia, acid rock, deep soul, schmaltz—often within the same song," writing that "Prince doesn't so much build bridges between categories as create music that exceeds each category simultaneously." Prince has been compared with jazz great Miles Davis in regard to the artistic changes throughout his career.

Image and musicianship

As a performer, Prince was known for his flamboyant style and showmanship. He came to be regarded as a sex symbol for his androgynous, amorphous persona, play with gender, and defiance of racial stereotypes.

Journalist Nik Cohn described him as "rock's greatest ever natural talent". His singing abilities encompassed a wide range from falsetto to baritone and rapid, seemingly effortless shifts of register. In addition to this, Prince was renowned as a multi-instrumentalist. He was considered a guitar virtuoso and a master of drums, percussion, bass, keyboards, and synthesizer. On his first five albums, he played nearly all the instruments. The precise number of instruments he was capable of playing remains obscure. On his debut album, he was credited with having played 27 instruments, which based on the album credits included various types of bass, keyboard and synthesizer in the total. When asked during a television interview by Dick Clark how many instruments he could play, he responded, "Thousands."

Personal life

Prince resided near Minneapolis at the time of his death.

Over the years Prince was romantically linked with many celebrities, including Kim Basinger, Madonna, Vanity, Sheila E., Carmen Electra, Susanna Hoffs, Anna Fantastic, Sherilyn Fenn, and Susan Moonsie of Vanity 6 and Apollonia 6. Prince was engaged to Susannah Melvoin in 1985. When he was 37, he married his 22-year-old backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia on Valentine's Day 1996. They had a son named Boy Gregory on October 16, 1996, who was born with Pfeiffer syndrome and died a week later. Prince and Mayte divorced in 1999. In 2001, Prince married Manuela Testolini in a private ceremony; she filed for divorce in May 2006.

Prince joined the Jehovah's Witnesses in 2001, following a two-year-long debate with friend and fellow Jehovah's Witness musician Larry Graham. Prince said that he did not consider it a conversion, but a "realization". "It's like Morpheus and Neo in The Matrix", he explained. He attended meetings at a local Kingdom Hall and occasionally knocked on people's doors to discuss his faith. Prince reportedly needed double hip-replacement surgery since 2005 but would not undergo the operation unless it was a bloodless surgery because Jehovah's Witnesses do not accept blood transfusions. The condition was caused by repeated onstage dancing in high-heeled boots. Towards the end of his life, Prince regularly walked with a cane in public engagements, leading to speculation that he was being disabled by not having his surgery. However, he used canes as part of his outfit from the early 1990s onward.

Prince was a vegetarian. The liner notes for his album Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic featured a message about the cruelty involved in wool production.

In 2016, Prince announced that he was writing a memoir, tentatively titled The Beautiful Ones.

Good News, Bad News for Portugal: Shared Liquidity Permitted, Shared Networks Prohibited

Portuguese Flag

To the delight of Portuguese online poker players, the country's gaming regulator Regulação Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) has stated that it would permit international liquidity for online poker as part of its new gaming regime.

According to Poker Industry Pro, the news broke last week during an online meeting organized by the Portuguese players association ANAon.

This is certainly good and welcomed news for Portuguese online poker players, as back in December 2015 SRIJ Head of Online Gambling Manuela Bandeira announced during a conference organized in Lisbon by Gambling Compliance that the online poker market would be ring-fenced away from international liquidity similar to the models currently operating in France, Italy, and Spain.

At the time, Bandeira did suggest that the country at some point would likely be open to international liquidity, however, the poker community was led to believe that this wouldn't happen soon.

"International liquidity is important for poker, as it allows small markets to be be more competitive," Bandeira explained. "It's not a simple issue and we need to work more closely with other regulatory bodies from different countries in order to understand how to make it work."

Online Poker Networks Prohibited

Along with some good news, some potentially bad news was also shared with the Portuguese online poker community as business-to-business licenses which allow for the sharing of liquidity between a variety of online poker operators on a single shared network will not be allowed.

While the reasons for this decision at this point are not known, it is potentially devastating news for online poker skins on some of the bigger networks including iPoker, 888poker, and the Microgaming Poker Network. SRIJ did seem receptive to changing their stance during their meeting with ANAon, according to Poker Industry Pro. However, the gaming regulator shared that any change would be at least two years away.

A little less clear is whether PokerStars might be affected by this change once it shares liquidity with its smaller sister site Full Tilt in the near future. It is possible this issue will not effect the world's largest real-money online poker room since technically this isn't a typical business-to-business situation with both companies being owned by Amaya Gaming.

Regulated Online Gaming Could Begin in June

If all goes to plan, the first Portuguese online gaming licenses under the new gaming regime could happen as soon as June. The SRIJ claims, according to Poker Industry Pro, that the delay in issuing licenses is due solely due to technical issues and once resolved licenses could be handed out 15 days thereafter. The soonest likely time for licenses to be awarded for online poker networks seeking international player liquidity would be a few months later in October.

Suicide Squad director David Ayer has set the DC Comics fan world a-buzzing after an interview with Total Film [via DC Vertigo Daily] in which he speaks of Jared Leto's performance as the Joker in almost messianic terms.

Leto, the Oscar-winning actor and frontman of 30 Seconds to Mars, was tapped back in 2014 to play the iconic role in Warner Bros.' film featuring iconic DC Comics supervillains. Of the opportunity to play such a legendary character already immortalized by the likes of Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, Leto told Billboard last year, "to take on this nearly Shakespearean character -- that's what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? [He's] this beautiful disaster of a character -- what a big challenge."

Ayer describes the experience of watching Leto-as-Joker as one in which "the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.

"What Jared has done is absolutely incredible," he gushes. "When he steps onto the set the world stops. Everything stops. What he’s done is so powerful, so menacing, so palpable, you can feel him. The crew stops working and just watches him. I have to get everybody going again because he’s so fascinating."

Fans will have to wait until the film's official release date of Aug. 5 to see it for themselves.
