Linkin Park, Cypress Hill, The Pretty Reckless, Grandson 2026-06-21 Rock In Rio, Lisbon

Sun, June 21, 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal @ Rock In Rio (Parque Tejo)

It was a sold out show with 90.000 people.

I went to Rock In Rio especially to see Linkin Park (for the 3rd time) with the tour "From Zero World Tour" and also for The Pretty Reckless.
Linkin Park I saw them before in September 9, 2003 (Pavilão Atlântico, Lisbon) and in May 30, 2014 (Rock In Rio, Parque da Bela Vista, Lisbon).
I had never heard of the other two bands: Grandson and Cypress Hill.

I arrived at Rock In Rio at 5:10 am. Was still night. And then came a sunny and very hot day. I went to the road to the main entrance to enter later. There were already some people on the lines.

We got in at 1 pm. The security guards removed the barriers so we could move forward to the next stop to be searched by the security guards. We walked slowly with the security guards forming a protective rope to the new stop. After that we have to go to a final stop to get our tickets checked and after thart finally we get in.
Was time to run to Palco Mundo that is in the opposite site of the Rock In Rio. Around 800 meters. Of course I couldn't keep up the pace. I had to stop and walk calmly to the Palco Mundo. When I got there, the front row was already packed with people on the right side, but I managed to see a guy who had been with me outside in line since 5 in the morning. And I managed to get on his side.
I immediately noticed two differences from Rock in Rio two years ago in the same place. The stage was higher and we were closer to the stage, but this meant I couldn't see the whole stage, especially the back parts and the river itself.

Scheduled times next.
General doors - 13:00
To start (1st band) at 17:00 -> Grandson -> End at 18:00
To start BPI Apresenta "Força Portugal" com a SIC - 18:35
To start (2nd band) at 19:00 -> The Pretty Reckless -> End at 20:00
To start The Flight - O Grande Espectáculo Aéreo - 20:00
To start (3rd band) at 21:15 -> Cypress Hill -> End at 22:15
To start Stage For Dreams - Espetáculo Pirotécnico e Audiovisual - 23:00
To start (4th band) at 23:15 -> Linkin Park -> End at 00:45
Close of Rock In Rio - 02:00

The first band on stage was Grandson. They played for 60 minutes (17:00 - 18:00).

Just went to google to find the story of this band and found this:
"Grandson (stylized as grandson) is the stage name of Jordan Edward Benjamin, a Canadian-American alternative rock musician. His music blends rock, hip-hop, and electronic elements to tackle socio-political issues like economic inequality, systemic injustice, and mental health.
Born in New Jersey and raised in Toronto, Benjamin initially planned to become a teacher. He studied education at McGill University in Montreal but dropped out to pursue music. In 2014, he relocated to Los Angeles to kickstart his career, where he developed his genre-bending sound.
The Meaning Behind the Name -> The moniker "grandson" is a direct homage to his late grandfather, who introduced him to legendary musicians like Ray Charles. He styles the name in all lowercase letters because he wants the focus to remain on the music and the community message, rather than personal ego."

Now my opinion of the concert. Was freaking cool rock. I like it. At the end of the show, the vocalist put on a Portugal football shirt.

I will write here the setlist:

01. AUTONOMOUS DELIVERY ROBOT
02. BURY YOU
03. We Did It!!!
04. Oh No!!!
05. BELLS OF WAR
06. Stigmata
07. GOD IS AN ANIMAL
08. Darkside
09. Overdose
10. 6:00
11. LITTLE WHITE LIES
12. SELF IMMOLATION

15. YOU MADE ME THIS WAY
16. Blood // Water

On the break before "The Pretty Reckless" Rock In Rio show us a special event dedicated to the Football team that is playing a World FIFA Tournament trying to win it and become World Champion for the 1st time.
The event was: -> "BPI Apresenta "Força Portugal" com a SIC"
They show special videos of the portuguese players from our story in euro and world events in the past. They also show all the players in video and with name on screen for the public to shout their names. Last name that was shown was from Ronaldo.
Hoping this could be a very special surprise to our portuguese team.
I was in the front row (on the right side) and saw a bunch of people putting up a giant banner for us to lift with our hands and send it backwards (the idea was to fill the audience with the flag). On the other side, they did the same with a national team t-shirt. At the right moment, we started pulling the banner back as far as possible. A little later, we pulled it forward again. It must have been a cool show to watch from the back.
The idea behind doing this is to then create a montage of our work that will be sent to the entire national team to show our support.

The second band was The Pretty Reckless. They played for 60 minutes (19:00 - 20:00).

It was amazing to finally be able to see them. I already knew of this band for a few years, but I never really got to know them (well) until I found out they were coming to Rock in Rio on the same day as Linkin Park. So I started exploring their catalog more thoroughly, and that made me really like them, especially some of their songs.

Current members

Taylor Momsen – lead vocals, rhythm guitar (2009–present)
Ben Phillips – lead guitar, backing vocals (2010–present)
Mark Damon – bass (2010–present)
Jamie Perkins – drums (2010–present)

Taylor Momsen is freaking cool. Love how she was always moving around everywhere. The songs I most wanted to hear were: "For I Am Death" and "Make Me Wanna Die". And they sang both. Freaking awesome.
I will write here the setlist:

01. Death by Rock and Roll

Another break of changing bands to have another surprise show. This time was: -> "The Flight - O Grande Espectáculo Aéreo"
It was an event with 5 small planes by Yakstars performing an aerial acrobatics show.
Very cool to see it.

The third band was Cypress Hill. They played for 65 minutes (21:15 - 22:20).

I did not like them. And don't understand why this band (Hip Hop) was put on the same line up (day) of Linkin Park, The Pretty Reckless and grandson that are all great and amazing rock bands. I only wanted them to finish their set and go out. I was not there to see them.

I will write here the setlist:

01. How I Could Just Kill a Man
02. Hand on the Pump / Shoot 'Em Up
03. When the Shit Goes Down
04. Real Estate
05. Latin Lingo
06. A to the K

Another break of changing bands to have another special show. This time was: -> "Stage For Dreams - Espetáculo Pirotécnico e Audiovisual"
Started with Freddy Mercury and Queen playing in an old Rock Show.
It was cool with also an amazing laser show. And fireworks.

The fourth band was Linkin Park. They played for 98 minutes (23:22 - 01:00).

They played a set of 23 songs.
It was my 3rd time watching them. But this time was with Emily Armstrong. The other 2 shows I saw was still with the amazing Chester Bennington that is not alive anymore.

Current members:

Mike Shinoda – lead and rap vocals, keyboards, sampler, programming, synthesizer (1996–2017, 2023–present); rhythm guitar (2001–2017, 2023–present)
Emily Armstrong – lead vocals (2023–present)
Brad Delson – lead guitar (1996–2017, 2023–present); keyboards, synthesizer, sampler (2007–2017, 2023–present); backing vocals (2000–2017, 2023–present)
Dave "Phoenix" Farrell – bass (1996–1999, 2000–2017, 2023–present); backing vocals (2002–2017, 2023–present)
Joe Hahn – turntables, synthesizer, sampler, programming (1996–2017, 2023–present); backing vocals (2000–2017, 2023–present)
Colin Brittain – drums, percussion, backing vocals (2023–present)

Current touring musicians

Alex Feder – lead guitar, backing vocals (2024–present)

I loved the show, always electrifying and full of energy. It was spectacular to see the new songs with the new vocalist and also to see the old ones with Emily Armstrong's help. Although, of course, I prefer Chester's versions, which will always remain in our memories.

Xutos & Pontapés, Extreme, Evanescence, Scorpions 2024-06-15 Rock In Rio, Lisbon

Sat, June 15, 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal @ Rock In Rio (Parque Tejo)

It was a sold out show with 80.000 people.

Saw Xutos & Pontapés (for the 4th time, all in Rock In Rio editions: 2004, 2012, 2016 and now 2024) now with Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa live.
Saw Extreme (for the 3rd time) live. The "Thicker Than Blood Tour 2024".
I went to Rock In Rio especially to see Evanescence (for the 3rd time) live. The "The Bitter Truth" Tour.
And also saw Scorpions (for the 1st time) live. The "Love at First Sting 40th Anniversary" Tour.

I arrived at Rock In Rio at 6 am. Sunny day. I went to the road to the main entrance to enter later, waiting that somebody else came. Around 7 or 8 am people start arriving.

After waiting for a few minutes on the main entrance we got in. We got inside at 1 pm. We had to run to be checked by the police. And after that we had to run again to the main entrance where they checked our tickets. A lot of people ahead of us taking photos, making videos and trying to give us "things". And then we had to run again already inside to go to Palco Mundo.
At 1:05 pm I was already on front row on the right side of the stage in the place where I wanted to stay.

Finally I could rest on a sunny and windy day with the river on my left.

Scheduled times next.
13:00 General doors
To start (1st band) at 16:00 -> Xutos & Pontapés with Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa -> End at 17:00
To start (2nd band) at 18:00 -> Extreme -> End at 19:00
To start (3rd band) at 20:00 -> Evanescence -> End at 21:15
To start 22:15 -> Show 20 Years -> End at 22:30
To start (4th band) at 22:30 -> Scorpions -> End at 00:00
00:00 Show ends

The first band on stage was Xutos & Pontapés with Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa. They played for 56 minutes (16:00 - 16:56).

Saw them for the 4th time, all in Rock In Rio editions:
2004/05/30 (with Seether, then Xutos, Charlie Brown Jr., Kings Of Leon, Evanescence and Foo Fighters),
2012/06/03 (Kaiser Chiefs, James, then Xutos and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band),
2016/05/19 (Rock In Rio-The Musical, Stereophonics, then Xutos and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band)
and now 2024 live. This was a special show that Xutos & Pontapés had already thought about a few years ago and it was finally possible to come to fruition.

It was nice, a little different with the orchestra. Xutos & Pontapés were happy. The orchestra conductor was always jumping from one side to the other, it was cool to see.
I will write here the setlist:

01. Abertura (Medley Instrumental - Orquestra Filarmónica Portuguesa)
02. À minha maneira
03. Fim de semana
04. Enquanto a noite cai
05. Avé Maria

The second band was Extreme. They played for 59 minutes (18:03 - 19:02).

It was amazing to finally be able to see them again. Last time I saw them live was 30 years ago:
1992/11/06 (with Joker, Thunder and then Extreme) in Pavilhão Dramático de Cascais, Cascais,
1994/06/12 (Extreme and Aerosmith) in Praça de Touros de Cascais, Cascais,
and now 2024 live.

I love the show. Gary Cherone the vocalist always jumping around from one side of the stage to the other. And Nuno Bettencourt always amazing with his guitars.
Extreme are a band from Boston, USA.
When Extreme played "We Will Rock You" by Queen Nuno arrived with a Benfica hat, his heart club.
Nuno spoke portuguese a few times during the show.
One time he said "I went to the United States of America when I was four years old. When I return to the Azores, to Portugal, everyone says that's where I'm happiest". This was just before a magic moment when a Portuguese flag fluttering on the screen on the stage. And Nuno started playing an acoustic version of the national anthem (Portuguesa), which made the audience join in in unison and sing the lyrics.
After this incredible moment Nuno started playing with his guitar "More Than Words" and Gary Cherone joined in to sing. Of course, the audience sang along to these amazing lyrics.

I will write here the setlist:

01. It ('s a Monster)
02. Decadence Dance
03. #REBEL
04. Am I Ever Gonna Change
05. Play With Me (with Queen's "We Will Rock You" intro)

The third band was Evanescence. They played for 76 minutes (20:02 - 21:18).

2022/12/12 (with Tigress and Evanescence) in Campo Pequeno, Lisbon,
and now 2024 live.

They started playing still on a sunny day and they finish still on day time but with no sun and almost night.
I love the show. Amy Lee with her amazing voice. Always running around from one side of the stage to the other. Even sang a few songs on the piano like usual.

I will write here the setlist:

Before the last band, Rock In Rio show us the celebration of 20 years of Rock in Rio here in Lisbon in the screens and with fireworks. They call it Show 20 Years. It took 8 minutes (22:20 - 22:28).

Was cool to see the memories in videos of bands and singers that they had in the last 20 years on the Rock in Rio stages here in Lisbon.

The fourth band was Scorpions. They played for 96 minutes (22:31 - 00:07 and encore 23:50 - 23:53).

Scorpions perform a 17-song set at Rock in Rio Festival, 15 songs plus 2 on the encore.
It was my first time watching them. Happy to see them here in Rock In Rio finally.

Current members:

Rudolf Schenker – rhythm, lead and slide guitar, backing vocals (1965–present)
Klaus Meine – lead vocals (1970–present)
Matthias Jabs – lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals (1978–present)
Paweł Mąciwoda – bass, backing vocals (2003–present)
Mikkey Dee – drums (2016–present)

Amazing how Klaus Meine has already 76 years old. He moves very slow but stil has an amazing voice.
It was a great rock show. Voice, guitars, drums were awesome. Cool to see the guitar players always running around the stage.
I made a few videos of my favorite songs, will add them below the setlist.

I will write here the setlist:

01. Coming Home
02. Gas in the Tank
03. Make It Real
04. The Zoo
05. I'm Leaving You
06. Crossfire
07. Bad Boys Running Wild
08. Delicate Dance (Guitar solo)

Duran Duran 2022-06-25 Rock In Rio, Lisbon

Sat, June 25, 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal @ Rock In Rio (Parque da Bela Vista)

I went to Rock In Rio to see Duran Duran (for the 6th time) live. This time was "FUTURE PAST EUROPE". After a week of some crazy weather we got a sunny hot day. But it worth every minute of it. 70.000 people.

It was my sixth Duran Duran show. I went to 3 shows outside Portugal and with this one will be my third show in Portugal.

I arrived at Rock In Rio at 6 am. Still night. Cold night with some rain. I went to the road where we will be in line to enter later, waiting that somebody else came. And about 9 am a A-Ha fan arrived.

We got inside a little after 12 pm.

After waiting for a few minutes on the main entrance we got in. When I was waiting my friend Tania appeared behind me (she wanted to see "Bush"). A lot of people ahead of us taking photos and trying to give us "things". Well, so I run to the front and then went to the left side. I got in to the front row corner on the left and my friend Tania went to the front row corner on the right side.

Finally I could rest on a sunny and hot day.

Before Duran Duran in Rock In Rio, Lisbon we saw the band "Bush", also "UB40 featuring Ally Campbell" and "A-Ha".

The first band on stage was Bush. They played for 53 minutes (17:00 - 17:53).
I never saw them before but I like them. Gavin Rossdale just went outside the stage to the fans everywhere while singing a few times. When he passed from me I touched his arm. And on the other side of the stage my friend Tania just got a special hugh from him. Awesome moments for sure. The sound was really awesome. Love one of the songs where we could see a video of people flying on roads. It was "Comedown". Love the song and the video behind was freaking awesome. Also great moments: "Bullet Holes" from the movie "John Wick 3: Parabellum" with images from the movie also behind. "Glycerine" another great moment.

I will write here the setlist:

01. The Kingdom
02. Machinehead
03. Quicksand
04. Bullet Holes
05. Blood River
06. Ghosts in the Machine
07. Everything Zen
08. Flowers on a Grave
09. Glycerine
10. Comedown

The second band was UB40 featuring Ally Campbell.. They played for 57 minutes (19:00 - 19:57).
It was cool to see some reggae music. We got "Purple Rain" by Prince also "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis Presley. "Red Red Wine" to finish the show.

I will write here the setlist:

01. Here I Am (Come and Take Me) (Al Green cover)
02. The Way You Do the Things You Do (The Temptations cover)
03. Homely Girl (The Chi‐Lites cover)
04. Groovin' (Out on Life) (UB40 featuring Ali Campbell & Astro cover)
05. Cherry Oh Baby (Eric Donaldson cover)
06. One in Ten (UB40 cover)
07. Purple Rain (Prince cover)
08. I'll Be There
09. Many Rivers to Cross (Jimmy Cliff cover)
10. Kingston Town (Lord Creator cover)
11. Can't Help Falling in Love (Elvis Presley cover)
12. Red Red Wine (Neil Diamond cover)

The third band was A-Ha. They played for 76 minutes (21:00 - 22:16). "Summer 2022 Tour".
They started playing when the night came. Started with sunny glasses but after the 1st or 2nd music they take it out. Everything was so slow. Yes, but with some some cool songs.

I will write here the setlist:

01. Sycamore Leaves
02. The Swing of Things
03. Crying in the Rain (Carole King cover)
04. The Blood That Moves the Body
05. Train of Thought
06. Foot of the Mountain

12. I've Been Losing You
13. The Living Daylights
14. Take On Me

Finally was time for Duran Duran. They started the show at 23h04 and played for 102 minutes (23:04 - 00:31 and encore 00:33 - 00:48).

Duran Duran perform a 19-song set at Rock in Rio Festival, 17 songs plus 2 on the encore.
They still are freaking amazing. A lot of energy on stage. For some 60 year old members they still look fit. Simon a bit voiceless in some parts, but nothing out of this world.
Cool that they played some of the new songs, but always awesome when they play like a greatest hits set. Great songs from the 80s and 90s that will always stay with my memories.

I will write here the setlist:

Velvet Newton (Song played from tape)
01. The Wild Boys
02. Invisible
03. All of You
04. A View to a Kill

Rock in Rio Lisboa

Os Duran Duran… duram e duram e duram

Rui Pedro Pereira

The Union of The Snake".

Bruce Springsteen 2016-05-19 Rock In Rio, Lisbon

Thu, May 19, 2016 in Lisbon, Portugal @ Rock In Rio (Parque da Bela Vista)

I went to Rock In Rio to see Bruce Springsteen (for the 3rd time) live. This time was "The River Tour 2016". Another big and sunny day of waiting. But it worth every minute of it.

It was the third time the BOSS was here in Portugal to do a live show. I was on the first show he did here in Lisbon on May 1st, 1993 at Estádio José de Alvalade (23 years before). This 1993 show was really awesome. I remember to see Bruce Springsteen playing for 3 hours. And the second show was 4 years ago also in Rock In Rio on June 3rd 2012.

I arrived at Rock In Rio at 5 am. Still night. Cold night. I sat up a little on the road where we will be in line to enter later, waiting that somebody else came. Other fans of Bruce Sprignsteen began arriving a little after 8 am.

Just before 4 pm me and other fans started to run up the long road, hard race until the main entrance. I managed to go to an empty door of close to 15 or 16 doors available to stop.

A few minutes later we get in. A lot of people ahead of us taking photos and trying to give us "things". Well, so I run to the front and then went behind other fans to the left side but I notice the right side was almost empty. So I turned around, just couldn't run anymore. Walk a little behind the bars and there I ended up on the right side that was where I wanted to go. I saw a friend of mine on front row with a little space on his right side and went there.

Finally I could rest on a sunny and hot day.

Before Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in Rock In Rio, Lisbon we saw a musical "Rock In Rio - The Musical", we also saw the bands Stereophonics and Xutos e Pontapés.

The first act was by Rock In Rio - The Musical. 60 minutes.
A musical Rock In Rio create to celebrate the 30 years of Rock In Rio.

The next band on stage was Stereophonics. They played for 71 minutes.
This was the first time I saw them live. They were nice. To be honest I knew their name but never hear them before and what I heard before I did not enjoy. But to be honest they were cool. I like 2 songs they played, I think they were: "White Lies" and "Mr and Mrs Smith".

I will write here the setlist:

The third act, band was Xutos e Pontapés. They played for 72 minutes.

Linkin Park, 2014-05-30 - Rock In Rio, Lisbon

Fri, May 30, 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal @ Rock In Rio (Parque da Bela Vista)

I went to Rock In Rio to see Linkin Park (for the 2nd time, first time was in Pavilhão Atlântico in 2003) live. I arrive at Parque da Bela Vista at 2h00 am. It was another big night and day of waiting. But it worth every minute of it. It was not as cold as the week before when I went there to see Robbie Williams.

Linkin Park are always amazing live. Love to see their energy on stage. The guys are always running all stage from one side to the other specially Chester and Mike. This time they even got a special surprise that was Steve Aoki on stage in "A Light That Never Comes". Steve Aoki was on stage for a minute or two and went to the right side and jump all over the crowd. Crazy dude. When he got out of the fans he passed just in front of me to go below the stage.

Before Linkin Park in Rock In Rio, Lisbon played Capital Inicial and Queens Of The Stone Age.

The first band was Capital Inicial. They played for 64 minutes.
They are a brasilian rock band. The vocalist is a crazy dude who was always jumping around the stage. Talk about the brasilian politics and even send them to a special place. They were fun to see.

I will write here the setlist:

01. O Bem, O Mal e o Indiferente

14. Mulher de Fases (Raimundos cover)
15. Veraneio Vascaína

The second band was Queens Of The Stone Age. They played for 83 minutes.
They are a rock band that I don't like. They play rock but not my kind of rock. A presenter of SIC Radical, Carolina Torres was in front of me rocking and jumping with their sound.

I will write here the setlist:

Spiders and Vinegaroons
01. You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, but I Feel Like a Millionaire
