The tour of Epica is: "The Epic Apocalypse Tour".
It was my 1st Epica show. And this was a show with 3 Bands I've Never Seen before, Wheel (1st band), Epica (2nd band) and Apocalyptica (3rd band)
I arrived at Coliseu at 6 pm. Doors opened at 19:00 and the 1st band was scheduled to start at 20:00.
1st band were "Wheel" in Coliseu, they started at 20:00 and played 26 minutes.
Wheel is a Finnish prog-metal band based in Helsinki, consisting of James Lascelles (Vocals/Guitar), Santeri Saksala (Drums), Aki ‘Conan’ Virta (Bass) and Jussi Turunen (Lead Guitar).

I never heard of them before. They were cool.
Time for Epica. I thought they were the last band playing. But some Epica fans told me that Apocalyptica will be the last band playing and Epica before them.
They started at 20:50 and played 80 minutes. Played a set of 12 songs.
Love the concert. Was my first time watching them live. And I only knew their music on the last 2 to 3 weeks. Awesome metal and symphonic sounds that Epica have.

Finally was time for Apocalyptica. I thought they were the 2nd band playing. They were the last to play.
They started at 22:40 to 23:52 and 23:54 to 00:07, played (72+13) 85 minutes. Played a set of 13 songs.
Love the concert. Also my first time watching them live. I remember only of 1 song of Apocalyptica "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica.

Simple Minds 2017-05-05 Facebook Official, Some Words From Lisbon - A Night Overflowing With Energy

They opened with "New Gold Dream" and not a minute after stepping on stage, Jim Kerr was already giving a hand to an element of the audience. He knelt down, rolled the microphone in the air and realized that this would be an unusual acoustic concert. In the second minute of action, the singer walked out the side area of the stage and into the enclosure by the access door to the audience. He came to greet his admirers! Never stop singing, allowed to hold and shoot for who approached him. He came along to the control room to greet people who were on the balcony and wave to the boxes and then returned to the stage.
The concert was held in great excitement, Jim Kerr thrilled the audience out of the chairs to dance. "See the Lights", "Glittering Prize", "Mandela Day" and "Chelsea Girl" were the themes that followed.
In between, the singer shared moments with the audience in a relaxed and fun approach. He began by making fun of his own Scottish accent thick as "the real James Bond, Sean Connery, you see?".
He then toyed with the huge chandelier hanging over the stage, only decorative element of the scenario. also recalled the first pass through our country in Cascais, a Peter Gabriel's opening concert. Between laughs, the singer said he made the drive from Glasgow to here. At the time, "was all drugs, it is now smothies and sushi-Pushi" ... he says.
Before "Stand by Love" explained that this idea of doing an acoustic format emerged 20 years ago. "The idea took ...". The greatest fear of the band was that the result was a boring concert. Far from it, and this set is closer to pop rock, it continued with "Someone Somewhere in Summertime."
A more serene moment began with "Waterfront." This was followed by a tribute to David Bowie, during which called Gordy Goudie ahead, to sing "Andy Warhol". He spared no praise for the guitarist. He explained that, in the most difficult moments, Gordy always been there for the band. Then handed the microphone to Sarah Brown, voice choir, which ensured an interesting version of the original theme of Patti Smith's "Dancing Barefoot".
One of the issues that could not miss in the alignment was "Do not You Forget About Me." All accompanied feet. Arms air letter more than decorated. The party continued with "Sanctify Yourself" and gave a brief withdrawal of the band.
Returning for the encore, Jim Kerr respond to repeated requests for "Alive & Kicking". "Yes ... but we still want to sing some tunes other before." For "Promised You a Miracle" he calls KT Tunstall, the singer who secured the first part of the concert. KT also participated in the recording of the album Acoustic and Jim says that as soon as the singer went into the studio, "was she who dictated the rules."
No big surprise, but with genuine emotion, the night ended with "Alive & Kicking". Translation of an acoustic concert is for the Simple Minds, something that goes beyond the idea of a room covered with candle lights.
It is a night to overflowing energy in you realize that they really like what they do and especially the contact with the public. The concert took place at the Coliseum, but the environment he felt was closer to the stage of euphoria.

Quando pensamos num concerto acústico, imaginamos um ambiente intimista, luz fraca, plateia sentada a assistir atenta, sem grande movimentação. O que os Simple Minds demonstraram ontem, no Coliseu dos Recreios, desde o primeiro minuto, é que pode ser tudo isso, mas também uma grande festa.
Os Simple Minds são uma grande banda, que construiu uma sólida carreira. Encheram estádios e hoje, ao celebrar 40 anos de atividade, mantém a simplicidade e humildade de dar ao público toda a atenção e carinho que este espera de um grande artista (e poucas vezes recebe).
Abriram com “New Gold Dream” e nem um minuto depois de pisar o palco, Jim Kerr já estava a dar a mão a um elemento da plateia. Ajoelhou-se, rodou o microfone no ar e percebemos que este iria ser um concerto acústico invulgar. No segundo minuto de atuação, o vocalista saiu pela zona lateral do palco e entrou no recinto pela porta de acesso à plateia. Veio cumprimentar os seus admiradores! Sem nunca parar de cantar, deixou-se abraçar e fotografar por quem o abordou. Veio junto à régie cumprimentar as pessoas que se encontravam no balcão e acenar para os camarotes e só depois voltou para o palco.
O Coliseu estaria longe de estar cheio, ocupado por um público maduro. Antes de chegarem os cabelos brancos aos presentes, os Simple Minds foram a banda sonora de quem viveu nos anos 80. Alguns dos seus grandes êxitos foram hinos de verão, repetidos nas discotecas da moda.
O concerto decorreu em grande euforia, com Jim Kerr a empolgar a plateia a sair das cadeiras e a dançar. “See the Lights”, “Glittering Prize”, “Mandela Day” e “Chelsea Girl” foram os temas que se seguiram. Pelo meio, o vocalista partilhou momentos com o público numa abordagem descontraída e divertida. Começou por gozar com o seu próprio sotaque escocês cerrado, tal como “o verdadeiro James Bond, Sean Connery, estão a ver?”. Brincou com o enorme candelabro pendurado sobre o palco, único elemento decorativo do cenário. Recordou ainda a primeira passagem pelo nosso país, em Cascais, num concerto de abertura de Peter Gabriel. Entre risos, o cantor contou que fizeram a viagem de carro desde Glasgow até cá. Na altura, “era só drogas, agora é mais smothies e sushi-pushi”…diz.
Antes de “Stand by Love” explicou que esta ideia de fazer um formato acústico surgiu há 20 anos. “A ideia demorou…”. O maior receio da banda era que o resultado fosse um concerto aborrecido. Longe disso, e até mais perto do pop rock, continuaram com “Someone Somewhere in Summertime”.
Um momento mais sereno começou com “Waterfront”. Seguiu-se uma homenagem a David Bowie, durante a qual chamou Gordy Goudie à frente, para cantar “Andy Warhol”. Não poupou elogios ao guitarrista. Explicou que, nos momentos mais duros, Gordy sempre esteve lá, pela banda. De seguida entregou o microfone a Sarah Brown, voz do coro, que assegurou uma interessante versão do tema original de Patti Smith “Dancing Barefoot”.
Um dos temas que não podia faltar no alinhamento foi “Don’t You Forget About Me”. Todos acompanharam de pé. Braços no ar, letra mais do que decorada. A festa continuou com “Sanctify Yourself” e deu-se uma breve retirada da banda.
Ao regressar, para o encore, Jim Kerr responde aos insistentes pedidos de “Alive & Kicking”. “Já lá vamos… ainda quero cantar outras antes!”. Para “Promissed You a Miracle” chama KT Tunstall, a cantora que assegurou a primeira parte do concerto. KT participou também na gravação do álbum Acoustic e Jim conta que, assim que a cantora entrou em estúdio, “foi ela quem ditou as regras”.
Sem grande surpresa, mas com genuína emoção, a noite fechou com “Alive & Kicking”. A tradução de um concerto acústico é, para os Simple Minds, algo que extravasa a ideia de uma sala coberta de luzes de velas. É uma noite a transbordar de energia, em que se percebe que eles gostam mesmo do que fazem e principalmente do contacto com o público. I went to Coliseu in Lisbon to see Simple Minds (for the 4th time) live (The Big Music Tour).
They played 28 songs, in a 3 part concert. Means 2 set parts with an intermission in the middle and the encore.

Banda de Jim Kerr trouxe a Lisboa 25 canções dos seus 5 primeiros discos, todos eles anteriores ao sucesso mais pronunciado. Êxitos radiofónicos, nem vê-los - mas também não fizeram falta.
Quando, em 1985, os vimos (pela televisão) no palco do Estádio de Wembley, em Londres, os Simple Minds estavam em plena era de super-estrelato pop. Em direto para boa parte do mundo, Jim Kerr e companhia pareciam imbatíveis, fazendo ecoar "Don't You Forget About Me" por toda a extensão do estádio nacional britânico (e Portugal, à época, não estava imune ao "contágio"). Por esta altura, o grupo formado em 1978 na Escócia tinha já sete álbuns gravados e uma ascensão sustentada, típica dos tempos em que a indústria musical era paciente (entenda-se próspera).
A imbatibilidade de Kerr e comparsas durou o resto da década de 80, mas a míngua de sucessos (e a simples mudança de moda) tornou os Simple Minds obsoletos durante a década seguinte, não seguindo a banda de Glasgow os passos de reinvenção de outros figurões feitos nos anos 80 como os Depeche Mode ou os U2. Desde então, falar de Simple Minds é entrar na conversa da saudade e, sobretudo, das saudades da supracitada "Don't You Forget About Me" e da irmã-gémea "Alive and Kicking".
Seria de esperar que em 2012 os Simple Minds preferissem desfilar o repertório dos "stadium years", mas o conceito da digressão que os traz a este Coliseu perto de cheio não responde à solução fácil: o grupo propõe-se interpretar 5 canções de cada um dos seus primeiros 5 álbuns, precisamente os 5 discos anteriores ao sucesso mais pronunciado: Life in a Day (1979), Real to Real Cacophony (1979), Empires and Dance (1980), Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call (duplo álbum, 1981) e New Gold Dream (1982).
É este o legado dos Simple Minds nos quatro primeiros anos de discografia, o tal caminho sustentado de que falávamos antes. É também um percurso marcado pela eclosão do pós-punk e da new wave, temperado a teclados e vocalizações um pouco mais sinistras (e menos pop) do que os êxitos posteriores dariam a conhecer.
Pouco passava das 21h00 quando uma voz anuncia, em português, que o concerto terá um intervalo de 15 minutos. Pouco depois, as luzes apagam-se e sobem ao palco Jim Kerr (voz), Charlie Burchill (guitarra), Mel Gaynor (bateria), Ged Grimes (baixo) e Andy Gillespie (teclados) - os dois primeiros estão no grupo desde o início; o baterista desde 1982.
O início tem aquela cadência hi-nrg de "I Feel Love", de Donna Summer, que hoje associaríamos também ao punk-funk; é "I Travel", primeiro single do escuro Empires and Dances (1980), de que se ouve logo a seguir "Today I Died Again", mais próximo do gótico do que da new wave. Do mesmo álbum escutaremos, mais à frente, a igualmente tortuosa "Celebrate", de uma era em que os Simple Minds tinham tanto de Bauhaus como de O.M.D., bandas contemporâneas que seguiriam, contudo, em direcções distintas.
Em palco vemos Jim Kerr, 52 anos, os mesmos tiques do estrelato pop dos 80s, braços erguidos em forma de aeroplano, sem medo da incitação popular (à segunda ou terceira canção já está junto à primeira fila), não raras vezes em posição de súplica (ou mesmo deitado), passes de dança entrelaçados, acenos em várias direções e palmas, muitas palmas, mas também muitos beijos direcionados à plateia (ou não fosse hoje Dia dos Namorados). A voz, projetada com afinco e processada com eco, não compromete um milímetro, a movimentação em palco não é poupada. Como se usa dizer, o homem não está aqui para enganar ninguém.
Do primeiro álbum, Life in a Day (1979), ouve-se a excitante "Someone", canção que lhe dá início, ainda com as guitarras a ganharem tanta proeminência com os teclados e uma toada pop que seria escurecida por aventuras posteriores. Também do disco de estreia, o tema-título que não deslustraria na discografia dos Magazine, teclados cold wave a juntarem-se a riffs de guitarra pós-punk; e a enxuta "Chelsea Girl", novamente com uma pujança rock que não quer ficar atrás da maquinaria desenhada a régua e esquadro (há um solo de guitarra, heresia em 1979).
A meio da contenda não duvidamos de que boa parte do público que acorreu ao Coliseu tem a secreta esperança de ver os Simple Minds furar a dieta auto-imposta e atirar-se a "Don't You Forget About Me" ou "Alive and Kicking", o que não vem a acontecer para bem da coerência (e gabe-se-lhes o facto de não terem cedido à tentação).
Para compensar, New Gold Dream (1982), o álbum de charneira entre os apetites exploratórios do início e a pop plástica de meio dos anos 80, traz dois casos de reconhecimento instantâneo: "Promised You a Miracle" e "Someone Somewhere in the Summertime", canções mais propensas à comunhão geracional (e aqui apontaríamos, de caras, para a faixa etária dos 40 aos 50 e muitos), mas também - na nossa opinião - menos interessantes do que "Love Song" (de Sons and Fascination - 1981), "Changeling" (de Real To Real Cacophony - 1979) ou mesmo a fantasmagórica "Calling Your Name" (do mesmo álbum). Felizmente, todas elas tiveram direito a tempo de antena, no tempo "regulamentar" e no "prolongamento" que se seguiu (um único encore).
Não fizemos as contas, mas terão sido interpretadas as 25 canções prometidas. Êxitos de rádio, praticamente nenhuns - e, valha a verdade, não fizeram falta.

Simple Minds, 2012-02-13 - BLITZ, Simple Minds trazem a Lisboa a digressão 5x5 (in portuguese)

Em fevereiro de 2012, banda de Jim Kerr interpreta no Coliseu de Lisboa cinco músicas de cada um dos seus primeiros cinco discos.
Os Simple Minds regressam a Portugal no próximo dia 14 de fevereiro, para um concerto no Coliseu de Lisboa.
O espetáculo integra-se na digressão 5x5, prevendo-se que a banda toque cinco canções de cada um dos seus primeiros cinco álbuns.
Em destaque estarão, ainda, os discos Life In a Day (1979), Real To Real Cacophony (1979), Empires and Dance (1980), Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call (1981) e New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84).
A digressão arranca em Lisboa, com um concerto que deverá durar mais de duas horas e meia.
Segundo o vocalista Jim Kerr, citado no comunicado de imprensa, "Este é o alinhamento que muitos dos fãs de Simple Minds nos têm implorado para tocar e, finalmente, vão ter uma oportunidade única de o ver".
Os bilhetes estão à venda a partir de 25 de novembro e custam entre 20 euros e 34 euros.

Within Temptation, 2011-10-12 - Coliseu, Lisbon

I went to Coliseu in Lisbon to see Within Temptation (for the third time) live (The Unforgiving Tour).
They are one of my favorite bands. They are always so nice to their fans. I already spoke and took photos with them the first time I saw them in March 24, 2007 in Paradise Garage. The second time I saw them was in Optimus Alive!08 in July 11, 2008.
Before "Within Temptation" in Coliseu, Lisbon played the band "Kandia".
We had 1 band before Within Temptation ("Kandia").
The band was Kandia. They played for 32 minutes.
I never heard of them before. They are also a Gothic-Metal band with a female vocalist. I like their sound, even bought their CD.
Here it is the setlist:

Finally was time for Within Temptation. They played for 95 minutes. Played 17 songs. I made 11 videos.
They are awesome live. I was front row in Coliseu. They had 2 new members on this tour, a guitar player and a drummer.
