I went to Dublin and Paris to see 3 amazing shows by U2 (Saturday on Dublin and then Tuesday and Wednesday in Paris) from the "The Joshua Tree Tour 2017".
Celebrating 30 Years of "The Joshua Tree".
"The Joshua Tree transformed U2 into superstars. U2 is celebrating the album’s thirtieth anniversary with a world tour. The original album tackled weighty real-world topics. Bono and company want to connect the music to right now — to global anxieties about, immigration, human rights, and governmental regimes."
"But The Joshua Tree transformed U2 into superstars, with hit singles “With or Without You,” “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Where the Streets Have No Name”. It was their first album to hit No. 1 on the U.S. album chart. U2 found themselves on the cover of Time magazine. A Grammy was awarded to the music video for “Streets,” shot on top of a Los Angeles liquor store. Saw them 10 times before in other places, my Country and even other Countries.
Before "U2", played "Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds", they played 54 minutes.
Noel the member of the band "Oasis" (1991–2009).
U2, played for 129 minutes. Played 22 songs.
They were awesome live doing this stadium show. Amazing sound.
1st show I was Pitch 1 on the right corner of the VIP area just on front row.
2nd show I was 1st row corner of the B Stage (Tree Stage) with Larry Mullen drums just ahead of me.
3rd show I was on the stands with a Gold Hot Ticket from VIP Nation.

Tonight was U2's only hometown jaunt of The Joshua Tree 2017 Tour. The last time they played Dublin just once on a tour was all the way back on 29 June 1985, during the sixth leg of The Unforgettable Fire Tour, subtitled the European Summer Festivals leg. That concert also took place at Croke Park. Discounting those festivals, the last time they played Dublin only once was 26 January 1982 on the third leg of the October Tour, a night that saw the live debut of Tomorrow. U2 have never before played Ireland just once on a tour.
Bad was dedicated to Guckpants Delaney, the Lypton Village name for Andy Rowan. At the end of the song Bono snippeted Simon & Garfunkel's America for the first time this leg. During Streets there was a quadruple flyover by fighter jets, the contrails of each mixing to create the Irish tricolour as they passed over the stadium. Mothers of the Disappeared was played in Ireland for the first time ever, although it made a brief appearance in the past when it was snippeted on 25 July 2009. Amazingly, tonight's performance of Miss Sarajevo (the 183 for the song) was also the first in Ireland. Although a mainstay on both the Vertigo and 360 tours, it joined the set after the Irish concerts on both occasions. This is the longest gap (in both number of performances and time) for a song between debuting live and appearing in Dublin, though if Scarlet is ever performed there it will shatter that record for time.

U2, 2014-09-13 - The Irish Times, Bono’s Dublin: ‘A long way from where I live’

Bono leans in to my face so our noses are almost touching, and he sings, unaccompanied, “Life begins with the first glance, the first kiss at the first dance, all of us are wondering why we’re here, in the Crystal Ballroom underneath the chandelier . . . We are the ghosts of love and we haunt this place, in the ballroom of crystal lights, everyone is here with me tonight, everyone but you.” It is sean-nós in shades.
“I need to tell you something really weird about this song,” he says. “It’s called The Crystal Ballroom, which used to be the name of McGonagles in South Anne Street [now knocked down]. A whole generation of Dubliners would go to the Crystal Ballroom for dances, and many couples first met there. My mother and father used to dance together in the Crystal Ballroom, so that song I just sang you, which hasn’t been released yet, is me imagining I’m on the stage of McGonagles with this new band I’m in called U2 – and we did play a lot of our important early gigs there. And I look out into the audience and I see my mother and father dancing romantically together to U2 on the stage.”
Bono takes a deep breath and, speaking slowly, says, “I have just realised that my mother died 40 years ago yesterday, and here we are today playing our new album about Dublin, which is about my family and what happened to me as a teenager.
“My mother died when she was at her father’s funeral. She had a cerebral aneurysm. I was only 14. And in this song I am singing, “Everyone is here tonight, everyone but you.” And it’s me wanting to see my mother dance again in the Crystal Ballroom and for her to see what happened to her son.”
All about my mother
We are in a windowless room at Apple’s headquarters in Silicon Valley, in the California town of Cupertino. U2 have just helped launch a range of Apple products, and it has been announced that their new album, Songs of Innocence, is being given to iTunes customers.
The Edge is here too. He flicks through his phone, finds The Crystal Ballroom and presses play. There is silence in the room as it plays. After a long pause a clearly upset Bono whispers, “Her spirit was with us today.”
This new U2 album could be read as Bono’s All About My Mother. The song Iris (Hold Me Close) – Iris is his mother’s name – finds him singing about her untimely death. “The ache in my heart is so much a part of who I am . . . Hold me close and don’t let me go . . . I’ve got your life inside of me . . . We’re meeting up again.”
Standing up and walking around the room, he highlights a lyric in the song. “I sing this verse which has ‘Iris standing in the hall, she tells me I can do it all,’ and then there’s a typical mother’s line when she says to me, ‘You’ll be the death of me.’ But it wasn’t me. I wasn’t the death of her. I was not the death of her.”
“The mother is so, so important in rock music. Show me a great singer and I’ll show you someone who lost their mother early on. There’s Paul McCartney, there’s John Lennon. Look at Bob Geldof and what happened to his mother.
“In hip hop, by contrast, it’s all about the father – being abandoned by the father and being brought up by a single mother. But for me it’s all about the mother. I had rage and grief for my mother. I still have rage and grief for my mother. I channelled those emotions in music, and I still do. I have very few memories of my mother, but all of them are in the song Iris.”

Bon Jovi - In These Arms (Live in Punchestown, Dublin, Ireland)
"Because We Can - The Tour" is in Europe right now. Today in Gdansk, Poland. Only 7 days to Bon Jovi play here in my town, Lisbon.
This video is awesome, a girl jumped on Jon bon Jovi in the song "In These Arms". So funny. Jon was really amazed. This was in Punchestown in June 7, 2008.
I was there middle of front row but didn't make the video of this song. But remember this very well.
I like when Jon says at the end of the song: "You irish women are crazy".

Bon Jovi, 2008-06-07 - Ireland, Punchestown
And after Vienna it's Dublin time.

I went on a plane on the day before, the 6th of June at 10:35 am in Aer Lingus. I arrive on Dublin Airport at 13:20.
On Lisbon airport I did my first mistake. I change 200 Euros to Pounds. In dublin Airport I found out that hey use Euros so I have to change the Pounds back to Euros. Of course with this I lost 40 euros.
In Dublin Airport I got a bus to the centre of Dublin. I went looking for buses to Punchestown and I did not found any. So I got a taxi, I payed 90 Euros I think. The cab driver was really nice and took me to Punchestouwn Racecourse. I think I arrive there about 18:00. The weather was not good but it didn't rain.
It was time to have a number of the Backstage club and to wait. I wait the rest of the day.
Day of show, the 7th of June.
Time to get the tickets.
Another portuguese friend was there with me, my friend Ana Melro.
We had 3 bands before the main event.
The first band playing was DC Tempest. They played for 22 minutes. They were good. I like their sound.
Kid Rock was the 2nd singer playing. He played for 67 minutes. I loved him. He was awsome.

Razorlight was the 3rd band playing. They played for 54 minutes. I don't like them. The sound was very boring.
Finally was time for Bon Jovi. They appeard at 8h30 pm and played for 155 minutes.

I love the show. My first time in Ireland to see Bon Jovi.

After the show I got a bus to the center of Dublin. I pay 10 Euros.
And there I caught a taxi to Dublin Airport. At the airport I found 2 Bon Jovi german friends.
The plain from Dublin was at 07:15 am. And then I arrive in Lisbon at 09:55 am

I went on a plane on the day before, the 6th of June at 10:35 am in Aer Lingus. I arrive on Dublin Airport at 13:20.
On Lisbon airport I did my first mistake. I change 200 Euros to Pounds. In dublin Airport I found out that hey use Euros so I have to change the Pounds back to Euros. Of course with this I lost 40 euros.
In Dublin Airport I got a bus to the centre of Dublin. I went looking for buses to Punchestown and I did not found any. So I got a taxi, I payed 90 Euros I think. The cab driver was really nice and took me to Punchestouwn Racecourse. I think I arrive there about 18:00. The weather was not good but it didn't rain.
It was time to have a number of the Backstage club and to wait. I wait the rest of the day.
Day of show, the 7th of June.
Time to get the tickets.
Another portuguese friend was there with me, my friend Ana Melro.
We had 3 bands before the main event.
The first band playing was DC Tempest. They played for 22 minutes. They were good. I like their sound.
Kid Rock was the 2nd singer playing. He played for 67 minutes. I loved him. He was awsome.

Razorlight was the 3rd band playing. They played for 54 minutes. I don't like them. The sound was very boring.
Finally was time for Bon Jovi. They appeard at 8h30 pm and played for 155 minutes.
What an amazing show it was. I will write here the setlist and then talk about the show:

I love the show. My first time in Ireland to see Bon Jovi.
It was amazing to hear the songs "Born To Be My Baby", "Just Older", "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead / Mercy / Start Me Up", "In These Arms", "Always" and "These Days".
