Artista canadiano tocou aquela, aquela…

Can’t Stop This Thing We Started”.

The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You”. Vénia de grupo e os músicos abandonam o palco. O público, obviamente, exige o regresso. E o encore partiu do presente (“Brand New Day” foi o single que antecipou a edição de Get Up!)

Alan Rickman, DEAD (1946-02-21, 2016-01-14) (aged 69)

The amazing Alan Rickman is dead. So sad to see cancer appears to everyone again.
Love him in a few movies like "Die Hard" from 1988 (one of my favourite movies ever with Bruce Willis), "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" 1991 and all 8 movies of "Harry Potter" as Professor Severus Snape.

You can check his story on his wikipedia page and on his imdb page.

Here it goes a little from his history from wikipedia.

Alan Sidney Patrick Rickman (21 February 1946 – 14 January 2016) was an English actor and director, known for playing a variety of roles on stage and screen, often as a complex antagonist. Rickman trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, performing in modern and classical theatre productions. His first big television part came in 1982, but his big break was as the Vicomte de Valmont in the stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses in 1985, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. Rickman gained wider notice for his film performances as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series.

Rickman's other film roles included the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, for which he received the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Jamie in Truly, Madly, Deeply, Colonel Brandon in Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility, the title character in Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny, which won him a Golden Globe, an Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild Award, Harry in Love Actually, P. L. O'Hara in An Awfully Big Adventure, Alexander Dane in Galaxy Quest and Judge Turpin in the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's musical of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Rickman died of pancreatic cancer on 14 January 2016 at the age of 69. His final film role, is as the voice of Absolem in Alice Through the Looking Glass, which will be released in May 2016.

You can see the rest of his story in his wikipedia page: wikipedia

Illness and death

In August 2015, Rickman suffered a minor stroke, which led to the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He concealed the fact that he was terminally ill from all but his closest confidants. On 14 January 2016, Rickman died in a London hospital, surrounded by friends and relatives. Soon after, his fans created a memorial underneath the "Platform 9¾" sign at London King's Cross railway station.

Tributes from Rickman's co-stars and contemporaries appeared on social media following the announcement; since his cancer was not publicly known, some—like Ralph Fiennes, who "cannot believe he is gone", and Jason Isaacs, who was "sidestepped by the awful news"—expressed their surprise. Harry Potter creator J. K. Rowling called Rickman "a magnificent actor and a wonderful man". Emma Watson wrote, "I feel so lucky to have worked and spent time with such a special man and actor. I'll really miss our conversations". Daniel Radcliffe appreciated his loyalty and support. "I'm pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn't have to do that". Evanna Lynch said it was scary to bump into Rickman in character as Snape, but "he was so kind and generous in the moments he wasn't Snaping about". Rupert Grint said, "even though he has gone I will always hear his voice".

Kate Winslet, who gave a tearful tribute at the London Film Critics' Circle Awards, remembered Rickman as warm and generous. "And that voice! Oh, that voice." Dame Helen Mirren said his voice "could suggest honey or a hidden stiletto blade." Emma Thompson remembered "the intransigence which made him the great artist he was—his ineffable and cynical wit, the clarity with which he saw most things, including me ... I learned a lot from him." Sir Ian McKellen wrote, "behind [Rickman's] mournful face, which was just as beautiful when wracked with mirth, there was a super-active spirit, questing and achieving, a super-hero, unassuming but deadly effective." Colin Firth told the Hollywood Reporter that Rickman had been an acting mentor of his. John McTiernan, director of Die Hard, observed that Rickman was the antithesis of the villainous roles he was most famous for on screen.

David Bowie 2016-01-11 Mashable, How David Bowie pushed the boundaries of gendered fashion

How David Bowie pushed the boundaries of gendered fashion

LONDON — David Bowie, the legendary rock singer who died Sunday at the age of 69, was a powerful fashion force who catapulted androgynous fashion into mainstream culture and transcended the boundaries of gendered clothing.

During his decades-long career, Bowie's innovation and tireless creativity was not only reflected in his iconic music, but also in the trailblazing style his fans seldom managed to keep up with.

Bowie is best known as a performer who adopted and cast off a plethora of alter egos, including Ziggy Stardust, the Thin White Duke and Major Tom. But Bowie was also the first mainstream music star to bring gender-bending fashion centre stage. Bowie's androgyny knew no bounds; from his scarlet red mullet to his piercing neon-blue eye makeup, his flamboyant makeup and experimental hairstyles revolutionised masculine fashions in the 1970s, setting trends for both men and women alike.

Bowie performed in heels; he sported dresses, blouses and crotch-hugging jumpsuits; he painted his face with neon colours and glitter, all while oozing sex appeal and nonchalance that made it impossible to see gender-bending as anything other than cool.

For Bowie, however, this rejection of conventional masculinity was not just about gender — it was about shirking what it meant to be human. "I always had a repulsive need to be something more than human," Bowie once said in an interview.

"I felt very puny as a human. I thought, 'F*ck that. I want to be a superhuman.'"

In 1970, the world first took note of the 23-year-old, long-haired, androgynous oddity from Brixton after he released his album The Man Who Sold The World. This album heavily influenced the glitter-soaked glam rock decade that followed, but the look that accompanied the album cemented Bowie as a style icon whose legacy still endures today.

Yet, in 1970, Bowie's brazen femininity was a bold and risky move. It had been a mere three years since homosexuality was legalised in the UK, and the Gay Liberation Front had just been established in response to growing concerns over widespread homophobia.

In a tribute to Bowie, British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman wrote of the extent of Bowie's style influence on youth culture during the 1970s. "My friends and I looked to David for our style inspiration," she said.

"The covers of Aladdin Sane, Pin Ups, Ziggy Stardust were our moodboards. Shaven eyebrows, mullet hair, pale skin, blue and pink eye make-up were all attempted with varying degrees of success."

"The 'swishy satin and tat' of Queen Bitch was our look of choice. We spent all our pocket money on skinny silk scarves from Biba, Forties tea dresses from Kensington Market, panne velvet loons from the Jean Machine, multicoloured platform boots from Sacha," Schulman continued.

Bowie's pirate-inspired ensemble — complete with eye-patch — became his era-defining, signature look. The painfully tight crotch and high-waisted body suit paired with a feminine blouse encapsulated the glamorous camp sensibility at the heart of glam rock.

Dylan Jones, editor-in-chief of UK GQ, told Mashable: "You only have to look at the wild array of designs on show at London Collections Men to see just how influential Bowie was in terms of gender fluidity. This generation wouldn't be this generation without him."

Bowie's impact on the fashion world is a significant one. During a decade of recession and discord, Bowie made fashion fun and accessible for generations young and old. He reinvented what it meant to be masculine by wearing women's clothing and makeup. The ease with which he pulled off these looks made androgyny — an erstwhile social taboo — the new normal.

David Bowie, the highly influential singer, songwriter, actor, producer and artist, died on Sunday at the age of 69 after a bout with cancer his publicist and family confirmed early this morning.

Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, director of Moon and the upcoming Warcraft, was with his father as he died and posted this shortly thereafter on Twitter.

Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all.

Bowie had just released his latest album Blackstar, his first after 10 years, last week when he also celebrated his 69th birthday.

Beyond his obvious contributions to the world of rock music where his style and androgynous persona was highly influential for multiple generations of musicians and artists, Bowie was also a prolific actor, starring in the science fiction film The Man Who Fell to Earth in 1973 and later taking memorable roles in Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. He was offered, but declined, to star as the Bond villain in 1985's A View to a Kill (the role instead went to Christopher Walken). More recently, Bowie starred alongside Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige and made a cameo as himself in the original Zoolander.

Bowie’s musical hits included “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Heroes,” “Ziggy Stardust” and even the number one pop music hit “Let’s Dance” in the 80s.

Born David Robert Jones on Jan. 8, 1947, Bowie is survived by his wife, model Iman, their daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones, and Bowie’s son from a previous relationship, Duncan Jones.

Bowie last performed live in 2006, but his legacy in both music, film, fashion and culture will always live on.

David Bowie, DEAD (1947-01-08, 2016-01-10) (aged 69)

The amazing David Bowie is dead. So sad to see cancer appears to everyone.
I saw David Bowie live in 1990 in a big stadium. A show I will never forget. I was on front row.
Love his music and a few of his movies like "Labyrinth" from 1986, "Absolute Beginners" 1986 and "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me" 1992.

You can check his story on his wikipedia page and on his imdb page.

Here it goes a little from his history from wikipedia.

David Robert Jones (8 January 1947 – 10 January 2016), known as David Bowie (/ˈboʊ.i/), was an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, painter, and actor. He was a figure in popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and musicians as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. His career was marked by reinvention and visual presentation, and his music and stagecraft significantly impacted popular music. During his lifetime, he sold an estimated 140 million records worldwide. In the UK, he was awarded nine platinum album certifications, eleven gold and eight silver, and in the US received five platinum and seven gold certifications. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Born and raised in south London, Bowie developed an interest in music as a child, eventually studying art, music and design before embarking on a professional career as a musician in 1963. "Space Oddity" became his first top five entry on the UK Singles Chart after its release in July 1969. After a period of experimentation, he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with his flamboyant and androgynous alter ego Ziggy Stardust. The character was spearheaded by the success of his single "Starman" and album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, and won him widespread popularity. In 1975, Bowie's style shifted radically toward a sound he characterised as "plastic soul", initially alienating many of his UK devotees but garnering him his first major US crossover success with the number-one single "Fame" and the album Young Americans. In 1976, Bowie began a sporadic acting career, starring in the cult film The Man Who Fell to Earth. The following year, he further confounded musical expectations with the electronic-inflected album Low (1977), the first of three collaborations with Brian Eno that would come to be known as the "Berlin Trilogy". "Heroes" (1977) and Lodger (1979) followed; each album reached the UK top five and received lasting critical praise.

After uneven commercial success in the late 1970s, Bowie had UK number ones with the 1980 single "Ashes to Ashes", its parent album Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps), and "Under Pressure", a 1981 collaboration with Queen. He then reached a new commercial peak in 1983 with Let's Dance, with its title track topping both UK and US charts. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Bowie continued to experiment with musical styles, including industrial and jungle. Bowie also continued acting; his roles included Major Celliers in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983), the Goblin King Jareth in Labyrinth (1986), Pontius Pilate in The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Nikola Tesla in The Prestige (2006), among other film and television appearances and cameos. He stopped concert touring after 2004, and last performed live at a charity event in 2006. In 2013, Bowie returned from a decade-long recording hiatus with the release of The Next Day. He remained musically active until his death on 10 January 2016, two days after the release of his final album, Blackstar.

You can see the rest of his story in his wikipedia page: wikipedia

Death

On 10 January 2016, two days after his 69th birthday and the release of the album Blackstar, Bowie died from liver cancer in his New York City apartment. He had been diagnosed 18 months earlier but had not made the news of his illness public. The Belgian theatre director Ivo van Hove, who had worked with the singer on his Off-Broadway musical Lazarus, explained that Bowie was unable to attend rehearsals due to the progression of the disease. He noted that Bowie had kept working during the illness.

Bowie's producer Tony Visconti wrote:
“He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life — a work of art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.”

Following Bowie's death, fans gathered at impromptu street shrines. At the mural of Bowie in his birthplace of Brixton, south London, which shows him in his Aladdin Sane character, fans laid flowers and sang his songs. Other memorial sites included Berlin, Los Angeles and outside his apartment in New York. Bowie was cremated in New York.

Star Wars 2016-01-06 Screen Crush, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Passes ‘Avatar’ to Become Biggest Movie of All-Time

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Passes ‘Avatar’ to Become Biggest Movie of All-Time

As was widely expected, Star Wars: The Force Awakens passed Avatar as the highest grossing movie of all-time on Wednesday morning. It was a record many, including George Lucas, thought would never be broken; The Force Awakens did it in just 20 days.

At the end of the day on Tuesday, Star Wars: The Force Awakens had earned $758.2 million and earned the remainder it needed to pass Avatar’s $760.5 million domestic box-office record on Wednesday morning. Avatar and The Force Awakens are the only two movies to ever gross more than $700 million in North America.

While this is an incredible success for Lucasfilm and Disney, Star Wars has a long way to go if it wants to beat Avatar’s worldwide box-office record of $2.78 billion. Star Wars: The Force Awakens currently has $1.54 billion, but still has yet to open in China. It’s looking likely that The Force Awakens will pass Titanic ($2.19 billion) on the list of worldwide box-office leaders, but minus a late surge, will likely wind up #2 to Avatar.

What this may mean for Star Wars fans is a re-release of The Force Awakens later this year, potentially with new, never-before-seen footage, or a first look at Star Wars: Episode 8. All of the original Star Wars trilogy films were re-released in theaters and A New Hope was actually re-released five times, most recently in 1997.

Star Wars was re-released on August 15, 1979 with the first trailer for The Empire Strikes Back and a Kenner Toy Discount Book. If I’m Disney, I put Star Wars: The Force Awakens in theaters on Force Friday with the first Star Wars: Episode 8 trailer and hand out the brochure of all the Force Friday toys.

If Lucasfilm and Disney find themselves short of box-office goals (or just want to keep Star Wars fever alive) this is certainly a creative way to do it. (It’s to note that both Avatar and Titanic were re-released in theaters as well.)

The next question is whether Star Wars can be the first film to cross $1 billion at the domestic box-office…
